3 years later… I think it’s safe to say that 3D as we knew it has died. I emphasize “as we knew it” because 3D in itself is still around. 3D technology has evolved and has some creative applications in 2020 and beyond! In addition though, even 3D movies have still been created and released in theaters, and 3D blu rays continue to be released as well (often in a set with other formats included). 3D simply isn’t being pushed by the larger industry as it once was. With the final production of the last 3D TV in 2017, it’s safe to say that the popularity of 3D home viewing for the masses has diminished and largely died.
While I have personally taken on a number of other projects in the last few years, my love for 3D has not died! I’m more excited than ever about preserving the rich history of 3D entertainment and bringing it back to life; even if only on a small scale and for those of you who still love the phenomenon of stereoscopic 3D!
During the transition and during my time focusing on other projects, Evolv3Dimensions was quietly born and we even released our first product: The RetroDepth LT 3D Glasses! Even without a proper product launch, advertising or even so much as a newsletter or press release, the RetreDepth LT 3D glasses have already sold thousands of units and have been enjoyed by customers across the country as a way to experience the nostalgia of 3D! It turns out, among the true fans, 3D is certainly not “dead”! I’m excited about exploring new and creative ways to keep this phenomenon alive and helping our customers relive the past experiences that we all cherish so much!
Thanks for sticking with us! Get ready for the 3D resurrection! There is more to come!
